10 Years of Memories | Houston and Los Angeles Photographer

As I looked back through all the images I’ve taken over the past 10 years, I got emotional thinking about all the families I’ve gotten to meet and capture. Some I just photographed once, but so many, I got to see year after year in front of my lens. Each of these images marks a point in my business for me, so let’s take a walk down memory lane!

2018 Portraits – There is no greater compliment than friends who choose to work with you. I started 2018 off with the lovely Franklin family – a wonderful way to start a wonderful year! This image is pretty close to perfect for me – the light, the boy’s expressions, and it’s in one of my favorite places in Claremont.

2018 Weddings – A gorgeous couple at a gorgeous venue. This wedding started me thinking about marketing for more weddings out here in California. Good things to come!

2017 Portraits – These people bless our socks off, and their boys are pretty cute too. I love how much this image conveys without being a traditional portrait.

2017 Weddings – An adventure and a privilege to travel to Washington D.C. to capture my dear friend’s glorious wedding.

2016 Portraits – I still adore everything about this laidback family session, and it was definitely a turning point for me creatively.

2016 Weddings – Getting to fly back to Texas with my husband and photograph Taylor and Alex’s wedding was a treat! The filmy quality of the image, the off-camera flash, the movement of her dress — LOVE!

2015 Portraits – I photographed the Sanford’s first baby, sweet Keilyn as a newborn, and then Rhys, and so when they booked a session the year after I’d moved to California, I was ecstatic. Plus, give me all the backlight with all the eskimo kisses.

2016 Portraits – These were some of my earliest clients who COMPLETELY jived with the way I want to photograph people. When they hired me again to capture their family a few years later, it was such a joy to see their kids.

2014 Weddings – I will never forget this moment at Chelsey and Michael’s wedding. I’m sure I was grinning like a fool. Spontaneous moments like this at a wedding are so fun to capture and super memorable!

2013 Portraits – I photographed 73 sessions this year, and it’s impossible to choose an image to represent all of that, but I love this one. I want my brand to remind people of the joy of being together!

2013 Weddings – I have so many favorites from Collin and Christina’s wedding, but I always find the walking back down the aisle as husband and wife shots some of the best!

2012 Portraits –  It doesn’t get much better than catching one of those fleeting newborn smiles. And I have loved watching this family grow over the years! I first met Erin and Kyle before they had any kids! We have had some fun sessions over the years.

2012 Weddings – Andy and I still talk about Brenna and Brandon’s wedding as one of our favorites because they are such a sweet couple. Andy shot video for the wedding while I did the photography, and I get to photograph them with their little boy in October!!

2011 Portraits – Another family I’ve now been photographing for over 8 years! The Cherry fam now includes six, but I smile seeing this one from our second or third session when it was just these two brothers and that yummy sunlight!

2011 Weddings – My first time photographing in California was in 2011 when I got to photograph Jana and Sean’s gorgeous wedding in La Jolla!!! Definitely one for the books!

2010 Portraits – Silhouette shots never get old. I remember this session in downtown Houston and being thrilled to capture something a little different in the middle of the city.

2010 Weddings –  This year brought my first opportunity to travel for photography and along with it lots of other firsts – like the first time to fly with my all my gear, the first time to rent a car alone, the first time to hire second shooter in another city! I have so many fond memories of photographing Tommy and Emily’s wedding in St. Augustine, Florida!

2009 Portraits – One full year in business, and I was coming up with all kinds of crazy ideas. One of which was buying a couch for the sole purpose of doing “living room” sessions in the middle of the woods! My poor husband not only put up with all my ideas but dragged that couch into the forest for me.  And this sweet family has been up for my antics from the VERY beginning!

2009 Weddings – This couple gave me the opportunity to photograph my FIRST wedding. No, I had never even second shot a wedding. But I had some kind of confidence, and I adored this couple – still do! I’ll share more about my first wedding experience soon! So thankful Amber and Alan took a chance on me!

2008 Portraits – Y’all, these are my first ever paying clients. Total strangers in August of 2008, but Jenny not only hired me, she befriended me and encouraged me and continues to support LWP. I remember she bought a package that included a canvas of this image, and I was over the moon seeing my work on a canvas for the first time.
