A Wedding | Emma & Micah | Escondido, CA

Some wedding days are especially meaningful to photograph because you’ve been part of the story long before the wedding day. Emma’s family has been dear to me for many years. I watched Emma grow up, photographed her senior portraits, and now had the incredible privilege of photographing her engagement and wedding to Micah. The two met at Baylor University, and it was such a joy to watch them begin their marriage surrounded by the people who have loved them, prayed for them, and shaped them along the way.

Their wedding at Rancho Guejito Vineyard in Escondido was beautiful from beginning to end, with sun-soaked portraits, lovely reception details, and the beauty of a vineyard setting. But what I remember most is the emotion of the day. Emma’s brother led worship, her father performed the ceremony, and there was powerful worship woven throughout their vows and celebration. Their Christ-centered vows reflected the foundation they want for their marriage, while parents and grandparents prayed over them. And with all of their siblings included in the wedding party, the celebration was wonderfully full—not just with people, but with the relationships that matter most.

And then there was Emma. I have never seen a bride with more energy! After the ceremony, she literally bounced into the reception, jumping up and down because she was so excited to finally be married to Micah. It was impossible not to smile watching the two of them celebrate. Looking through these photographs, I keep coming back to the same thing: this day was beautiful because of the details, but it was unforgettable because of the people, the joy, and the faith at the center of it all. Emma and Micah are an extraordinary couple, and it was an honor to document the beginning of their marriage as they seek to love one another faithfully and serve the Lord together.

This is why I love wedding photography so much. Years from now, the details of a wedding day may be remembered differently, but these photographs will bring you back to the people, the joy, and the moments that made the day yours. For Emma and Micah, I hope these images always remind them of the love that surrounded them as they began their marriage and of the beautiful story God is continuing to write.
