A Newborn Session | Theodore | Los Angeles, CA

There is something especially meaningful about photographing a family as they grow. I first met Cyndi and Jack for their engagement session, and since then I’ve had the privilege of photographing their wedding, maternity sessions, their first little boy as a newborn and on his first birthday, and now welcoming their second son. Getting to return to their home and photograph their family of four feels like another chapter in a story I’ve been honored to document from the beginning.

Life with two little boys is full and busy, and Cyndi and Jack are right in the middle of creating their new rhythms as a family of four. They are the kind of family who loves to have fun, make memories, and enjoy the everyday moments together. Their newborn session took place in their master bedroom, where the afternoon light was beautiful and soft. Their toddler and newborn kept things moving, as toddlers and newborns tend to do, but somehow the whole session felt wonderfully familiar—like spending a Saturday morning at home with a sweet family you’ve known for years.

These are the photographs I love most: the ones that feel like real life, only a little more beautiful because you can see it all at once. Cyndi holding her new baby, Jack loving on his boys, a toddler climbing into bed, tiny newborn details, and all the little interactions that make this particular season theirs. Years from now, I hope these images bring them right back to this home, this family of four, and these wonderfully full days of raising their boys.

These are the seasons that pass far too quickly. The baby who fits so perfectly in your arms, the toddler who is learning to be a big brother, the familiar rooms where so much of family life happens. I’m grateful to preserve these ordinary, beautiful days for families like Cyndi and Jack—and even more grateful when I get to return again and again as their families grow.
